Rethinking a sustainable way to consume coffee

The frustration of wasting plastic spoons to stir coffee on a daily basis was the starting point to develop a sustainable solution for the issue. By doing a simple calculation based on the data from the International Coffee Organisation - 2012, everyday the world consumes approximately 500 million cups of coffee on the go. Imagine how much wood and plastic is wasted to stir a simple cup of coffee.

Ecookie is a spoon to stir coffee made of cookie that replaces those made of plastic and wood that are distributed in coffee shops worldwide. A simple material change could impact to reduce significantly the waste in landfills around the world and therefore, helps to create a sustainable future for our planet.

In 2011 we were delighted to win IDEA Brazil Silver medal award in Commercial & Industrial category and were automatically nominated for The International Design Excellence Awards—also known as IDEA Awards  in which we managed to win the bronze medal medal. IDEA is a premier international design competition sponsored annually by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and judged by renowned design experts from around the world. We also featured in Victionary's Love Earth book showing that green design and good design are not mutually exclusive. In july of 2012 ecookies was part of the exhibition The Food Project: Taste of Shape in the Mart Museum, the museum of modern and contemporary art of Trento and Rovereto, Italy.
